Description

Name: Dace Carter

Age: 16

Height: 5’10”

Birthday: June 9

Race: Demigod

Sex: Male

God-parent: Zeus

Mortal Parent: Belladonna Carter, a meteorologist specializing in tornadoes.
Zeus was amused by her persistence and started forming anomalous clouds and tornadoes while posing as a fellow meteorologist wanting to do a ride along with the “famous” Belladonna Carter. He spent a season accompanying her as she drove to and fro in tornado alley, chasing each forming storm and taking readings. He manipulated one storm in particular, trapping them in a shelter for hours. When it became apparent that she was pregnant, Zeus explained who he was and what their children would be. Even his disappearance wasn't enough to fully convince her until the incident finally forced her to accept that her children were more than human.

Powers:
:bulletyellow:Tornadogenesis:bulletyellow: Dace can create and control a cone of rotating air.
F0: Dace's tornadoes can reach up to 70 mph wind speed, enough to break branches off of trees and damage light structures. He can roughly control where it goes, like a dog on a leash.
F1: Now up to 110 mph wind speed, his tornadoes can peel roofs off of houses and knock people over. He can control its location like a mouse cursor.
F2: With up to 160 mph wind speed, his tornadoes can cause significant damage and can now lift light objects into the air and throw them, though he has no aim with these projectiles. He can sometimes keep a few objects or people from feeling the effects of his tornado.
F3: His tornado's windspeeds can now reach 210 mph, causing severe damage. The winds are now strong enough to throw cars short distances. He can somewhat aim these projectiles and can keep most of the objects or people he wants from feeling the effects of his tornadoes.
F5: The devastating damage of up to 310 mph wind speeds are his to command. He can use them to turn even houses into projectiles and can throw cars up to 100 meters as well as stripping the bark off of trees. His airborne missles go where he wants them to go and he has complete control over who and what are affected by his tornadoes.

Weapon: None

Personality: Friendly, reckless, competitive, adventurous, energetic, free-spirited
Dace loves to investigate: meeting new people or finding new things. He and his brother learned to climb early on because they couldn’t stand not knowing what the view was like from the top of that tree or what was on top of that hill. Having grown up in such close-quarters, the boys are extremely competitive, racing to be first to anything and, their most long-lasting competition: who gets the backseat during the long car rides. Unlike most who prefer to ride shotgun, with their mom, the front seat rider is the navigator and the backseat rider is the one who gets to relax and stretch out. When not feeling stimulated, he has a tendency to walk away in search of something more interesting. He and his brother are similarly bonded in their highly-energetic state of being and find that few have the stamina to keep up with them, reinforcing their bond.

Deadly Flaw: Curiosity - His inquisitive nature often overrides what others refer to as “common sense” which can get him into a lot of trouble.
When faced with a rattlesnake, he’d be more likely to try and count the ridges in its rattle to figure out its age than to back away from the angry snake.

Background:
The twins grew up in the relatively unpopulated areas of Oklahoma. Their mother, a professional storm-chaser, raised them on the road. Home for them was a six-wheeled truck pulling a large trailer jam-packed with meteorological equipment with some food-storage crammed in and some bunks for sleeping. Their nomadic lifestyle led to a rather patchwork education in whatever school happened to be nearest where they bunkered down for a few weeks and, in between storms, their mom would fill the gaps. Their dyslexia meant that she had to read most of their homework and coursework aloud and it became a game of shouting facts and trading information and trivia back and forth as they drove from location to location. Raised by a scientist, they hunger for more information and are excellent at rapid quizzing. Having grown up this way, the close quarters became familiar and they know each other inside and out.
The little family, luckily, lived in rather an ideal way to avoid monster encounters. The strong Oklahoma winds and the constant relocation kept the scent of even a pair of Zeus children confusing enough that monsters never managed to track them down successfully.

They were content to ride along with their mother forever, but it wasn’t meant to be. The twins had to take the annual standardized test. Because they had an assigned reader because of their dyslexia, they were sent with the assistant to an otherwise empty classroom. The middle aged woman with long hair settled in, grinning at them as she watched the clock. The boys were confused when she just stared at them rather than starting to read, but they were shocked when she stood up and her legs turned into a pair of snake-tails. She pulled out a pair of swords and attacked.

Panicking, they scrambled away from her, knocking desks into her path to try and slow her down as they yelled for help, but the rest of the school was focused in the larger classrooms in another building. The monster was between them and the door and their attempts to smash windows were thwarted by the metal mesh that was meant to keep the windows from being as much of a danger in a tornado. The air in the classroom whipped like crazy and some of the metal desks Ace shoved at her made her wince as they sparked. Ace desperately dove at her, trying to shock her more strongly, but the Dracanae managed to get her sword up and stabbed him in the leg. Fortunately for the twins, Ace kept his head and delivered a devastating jolt to her chest. Dace snatched up the other sword and rammed it through the heart of the monster twitching on the floor and they watched, hearts racing with adrenaline, as she exploded into dust and vanished.

A group of teachers arrived right after to investigate the noise but only found the classroom torn apart with broken windows, one student stabbed, and the aide missing. They managed to blame the damage no an assistant that went crazy and stabbed Ace before running off, blaming the mess and disruption on their attempts to get away from a knife-wielding crazy woman.

Though they escaped blame, their mother finally realized that they would be safer with some real training and protection and sent them to camp.

Other Info:
:bulletyellow::bulletblue: Ace Carter is his twin brother
:bulletyellow: The twins love being up high and have been climbing anything even remotely vertical since they learned to walk, usually to be found on rooftops
:bulletyellow: They are usually to be found wearing Skywarn jackets their mom got them from central headquarters
:bulletyellow: Dace loves paper airplanes and kites
:bulletyellow: Being in enclosed spaces makes him sort of queasy though he wouldn’t call it claustrophobia
